“East to West Mediterranean” Screening in London

On 6th of October, Ozlem and Onur joined the London screening of East to West Mediterranean with the Turquoise Coast Environment Fund, celebrating science, storytelling, and community action for our shared seas.

Directed by Mert Gökalp, the film spotlights Bodrum’s seagrass meadows and the local efforts to protect them, a story that beautifully connects local action with global impact. The screening was followed by an inspiring panel with Mert Gökalp, Ergem Şenyuva, George Duffield, and Sofia Blount, all committed to restoring life below water.

Often overlooked, seagrass is the coral reef of the Mediterranean — filtering our waters, nurturing marine life, and storing carbon far more efficiently than forests on land. Fragile yet powerful, these meadows remind us of the quiet strength of nature-based climate solutions.
